Veneer

AM 1 - GANDUM
GANDUM is a refined wood veneer collaboration between Muka and renowned Indonesian architect Andra Matin, showcasing a shared appreciation for quiet elegance and natural materiality. At the heart of this collaboration is yellow poplar wood, chosen for its fine grain and light tonal quality, which lends itself beautifully to subtle treatments. Named GANDUM, the veneer embodies warmth and restraint, echoing the soft, calming tones of natural grains—much like the muted hue of wheat itself.
Designed by Andra Matin, the veneer reflects his architectural ethos: grounded, serene, and intimately connected to the environment. The surface is intentionally understated, allowing the character of the yellow poplar to speak for itself. With a gentle, almost textile-like softness, GANDUM blurs the line between structure and nature, evoking a sense of quiet sophistication in any space it inhabits. The design subtly balances form and texture, making it versatile for both minimalist interiors and more expressive applications.
GANDUM is not just a finish—it's a design statement rooted in simplicity and care. Through this collaboration, Muka and Andra Matin have crafted a veneer that honors the beauty of wood in its most natural form. It invites touch, observation, and reflection, serving as a thoughtful backdrop to contemporary living while echoing a deep respect for craftsmanship and material integrity.
