AM 2 - KAYUMANIS

KAYUMANIS is a refined wood veneer collaboration between Indonesian design brand Muka and renowned architect Andra Matin, celebrating the warmth and quiet beauty of natural materials. Designed by Andra Matin, Kayumanis captures a sense of understated elegance, embracing subtlety and restraint while allowing the natural characteristics of the wood to speak for themselves. The veneer serves as a poetic expression of Matin’s architectural philosophy—one that values texture, light, and organic connection.

The veneer uses yellow poplar wood as its base, chosen for its fine grain and excellent tonal receptivity. Yellow poplar provides a smooth canvas, enabling a delicate infusion of color that enhances rather than masks its natural qualities. The result is a surface that feels both tactile and calm, drawing attention to its fine, almost whisper-like texture. Through precise craftsmanship, the material is transformed into a versatile design element suitable for interiors, furniture, and architectural detailing.

True to its name, Kayumanis features a warm, soft orange-brown hue, reminiscent of the spice itself. The color feels both earthy and airy—gentle enough to blend seamlessly into a space, yet rich enough to add warmth and depth. This subtle coloring is not overly saturated but rather infused in a way that feels elemental and timeless. The Kayumanis veneer becomes more than just a material—it’s an atmosphere, carrying with it the quiet presence of nature and the thoughtful touch of design.
